As with previous years, the season begun with an inter-club match between Mixed B vs Mixed C, the only thing different being a number or new faces for each team, also the confusing fact that the ‘Mixed A’ team are now called the ‘Mixed B’ team due to their relegation and the Mixed B teams promotion.

With new Mixed B captain Charleigh away this week, Molly stepped up and named a strong team of Calvin, Dan, Connor, Carla, Kaye and herself. Another new captain for the season is Jordan, taking over the reins of Mixed C. Jordans first team was Ben T, Dean, Julian, Jordan, Kaajal and Jess.

The first two matches shows the signs of the the match being a close fought afair, Calvin and Dan, seasoned top division players, were pushed the distance by the strong pairing of Ben and Dean. Despite losing the first game, and only just winning the 2nd 23-21, Calvin and Dan came back to win the next two to take the first rubber. Carla and Molly also needed three games to get the job done, but saw off Jordan and Kaajal 2-1 in games. Calvin and Connor carried on the Mens momentum, beating Ben and debutante Julian 2-0. This result was matched by Jordan and Jess however, making it 3-1 in rubbers. Connor and Dan secured another point vs Julian and Dan while Molly and Kaye were beaten 2-0 by Kaajal and Jess. This mean the scores going into the mixed rubbers were 4-2 and leaving the Mixed B team only requiring 1 rubber. This rubber fortunately came in the first rubber, Calvin and Carla beat Ben and Kaajal 2-0. Meanwhile Dan and Kaye love to Julian and Jess by the same margin which left Connor and Molly vs Dean and Jordan, battle of the Hunters. Dean and Jordan took the lead in the rubber, winning the first game 21-19, but then Connor and Molly came back to take the second 21-16 meaning the game went to a decider. The final game was very close, with the lead changing hands multiple times, but eventually Dean and Jordan secured the final game 21-19 to leave the match at 5-4 to the Mixed B team.
